Busker Covers Red Hot Chili Peppers While Drummer Chad Smith Is Watching

In a recent viral TikTok video, busker Armand Davis was filmed drumming along to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 1999 Billboard Top 20 hit single, “Otherside,” on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade. One person is seen concentrating on Davis’ performance, and that was he actual Chili Peppers drummer, Chad Smith, who is shown tapping his feet and nodding his head in approval while watching him play. Joey McCarthy, the person who captured the video footage of the street performance, captioned his clip, “imagine shooting hoops in front [of] Michael Jordan and not even realizing it?” Davis eventually commented on the TikTok video: “Yesterday, I played Otherside by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and halfway through, I noticed someone really vibing which isn’t unusual. But when I finished, a few people told me I’d just played for Chad Smith, the drummer of RHCP. Hearing him say I sounded good on a track he’s known for? Completely surreal.” (People)
