Julian Casablancas Says The Strokes Classic “Last Nite” Is ‘Pretty Dead To Me’

In a new interview with The Guardian, the Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas was asked to share his personal tastes in music. When it came time to reveal “the song I can no longer listen to,” the singer took aim at one of his own band’s tunes, rather than picking a track from another group that has worn out its welcome. “‘Last Nite’ by The Strokes is pretty dead to me. I’m not sure why,” revealed Casablancas. “Last Nite” was the second single from the band’s celebrated 2001 debut album, Is This It?, and the record’s biggest worldwide hit. Casablancas shared more Strokes’ songs that he has grown tired of over the years. “There are some others,” Casablancas continued. “Like ‘Reptilia,’ ‘Hard to Explain,’ ‘Someday,’ ‘Take It Or Leave it,’ ‘New York City Cops,’ that are comparable in terms of crowd reaction that I’m not quite as sick of. If I heard it on the radio, I’d probably turn it off.” (Loudwire)
