Disturbed’s “The Sound of Silence” Video Surpasses 1 Billion YouTube Views

Disturbed’s music video for their moody cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic, “The Sound of Silence,” has just reached the one billion views milestone on YouTube. Disturbed’s version is featured on their chart-topping 2015 album, Immortalized. Their take on “The Sound of Silence” reached a wider audience following their sensational live rendition of the song on Conan. That performance earned the stamp of approval from none other than Paul Simon himself, who emailed his positive thoughts to singer David Draiman: “Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I’d seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks.” Draiman responded in kind, “Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/us and we are eternally grateful.” (Consequence of Sound)
